About the project
Oye LENA is an educational project for children with a disability. Our main target group includes toddlers and children from primary school.
The project is located in Curahuasi, Peru, in the heart of the Andes mountain range at an altitude of 2,600 meters. It was founded on 15 April 2012 and has been an officially registered NGO in Peru since 8 February 2013.
Oye LENA is short for “Oye Loquitas EN Acción!” which freely translates to: “Listen up, we are taking action!”
We at Oye LENA try to tackle the issue of poverty and social inequality through quality education. Every child has the right to get quality education, which is focused on personality development, regardless of their own capabilities and limitations and regardless of the place and culture in which they grow up. All children should have the same opportunities, no matter if these children come from underprivileged families and ethnic minorities, from rural areas, or if these children have disabilities.
With your support, give the children a chance for a better life!
