About the project
Biokuka is a project that deals with the rebuilding of the Amazon rainforest with the focus of permacultural ecological agriculture and self-sufficiency. It takes place in an area where monocultures, agrochemicals, forest fires, etc. are big threats for nature. We provide ecological education to our visitors and inspire local organizations to both stop deforestation and find sustainable solutions in rebuilding the rainforest.
Pucallpa is a fast-growing city and fewer people can afford the entrance fee for the garden. Biokuka cannot afford to buy the tools we need to build new specific projects such as an island for recycling projects. With the money from Socialbnb guests, we want to lower the entrance price for local schools, universities and other institutions to give access to ecological education to everyone. Furthermore, our ambitions are to create a workshop with all the tools we need to build even more interesting interactive stations than we already have right now. Our mission is to implant an awareness of the ecological problems we have to face today while demonstrating sustainable solutions at the same time.

As the tourists stay directly inside our garden, there are endless possibilities given for them to get to know Biokuka. They have multiple options in guided tours. They also give free access to the garden 24/7 for their guests. You will have the chance to leave your footstep in the garden by planting your own tree. Also, you can help them out with our current projects, if you want to. Their main goal is that you as their visistor have a good time in Biokuka so whatever you want to do, just ask them and they will offer you the best solution available. They can also help you with transport.
As their volunteers and gardeners also eat lunch in the garden almost every day there is the possibility to just join them and eat all together for a few Soles.
The garden is located about 15 kilometers outside of the city Pucallpa, where you can visit the lagoon of Yarinacocha or continue your trip in one of the indigenous coummunities nearby for Ayahuasca retreats or take a boat ride to Iquitos.
