Aldea Yanapay – Homi Hostel

Help finance the education of children in Cusco!

About the project

Our little school was founded in 2004 in Cusco. We welcome more than 60 kids aged between 5 and 15 years daily to provide them with an alternative education based on love, respect and creativity. We offer the following workshops: tutoring, music, dance, English lessons, computing, games, art, etc. Then, we gather in the « Círculo de Amor », a space of love and expression where we sing, meditate, share our ideas and talk about the theme of the week. Finally, we get into the different family groups according to the kids’ ages and we work on the emotions, the theme and we prepare the Friday show.

About the homestay

Our first magical place, in the heart of Cusco, is just 10 minutes away from the main square, a few minutes away from beautiful churches and the famous arch of San Francisco. We are also just 2 minutes away from the supermarket and Mercado San Pedro, the largest and oldest city market. The second homestay is in Lamay, a picturesque town, that is only 50 minutes away from Cusco. Our Eco Village is in a ravine surrounded by Apus (mountains) and crossed by a silver river. In our magical place, the Pachamama (Mother Earth), Taita Inti (Father Sun), Yacu Mama (Mother Water) and all gods and goddesses gather together to smile and remind every human being that we are part of a big family.

  1. Awesome

I stayed here with two friends. Firstly I have to say that the people are really helpful and kind. Aldea Yanapay is located great so you are in the centre of Cusco: 2 minutes from the big San Pedro market and only 10 minutes from Plaza de Armas.
Breakfast is included and when you have to get up really early they dress a breakfast just for you.
The highlight from Aldea Yanapay is the cozy outside area where you can chill in the sun. Moreover here is a kitchen so you could cook by yourself too if you want.
The most important thing is that you support the children in Peru with your money you spend on the overnights. If you stay longer than one week in Aldea Yanapay you can also do volunteering work in a school but you don’t have to. This is only your decision.
The rooms are clean and it exists warm water.
    I recommend this place completely.
