The Rainbow Nation
New week, new country! Located at the southern tip of the African continent – join us on our journey to South Africa!
Obviously South Africa has a long coastline, since it is located at the entire southern tip of Africa. So naturally there are plenty of beautiful beaches all over that coastline, but here is a secret tip; Gordon’s Bay – a small but gorgeous beach near Cape Town. It’s simply lovely to relax at the beach, since it is pretty wind-sheltered. Since it’s near the harbor you will easily get to a nice restaurant when you are getting hungry. At the beach you might be lucky to see some Dolphins and Seals, but be careful; Even though the warm weather and the Dolphins seem to welcome you to go swimming, you should be aware of the Sharks that may be lurking in the ocean.
South Africa is known for their great wine. Stellenbosch is the place-to-be for every wine lover, but don’t worry, even if you aren’t a wine expert you will love this place. It’s a small city near Cape Town and it’s surrounded by vineyards and the nature reserves Jonkershoek and Simonsberg. Stellenbosch’s architecture is a remainder from when the Dutch founded the city during the colonial era. It grants the city additional charm, as the alleys are lined with oak trees and there are lots of small cafés, boutiques, and art galleries. So no matter if you would like to hike through the vineyards, or if you want to enjoy some wine during a city tour, you will definitely fall in love with Stellenbosch.
Another place that we can dearly recommend is called Oudtshoorn, otherwise known as “Feather Capital of the World”. Oudtshoorn got its nickname from the amount of ostrich farms, which are all located here. The Safari Ostrich Show Farm is great for visitors, as they teach you a lot about these animals and their products. Feeding the ostriches and visiting the C.P.Nel-Museum, an ostrich museum, isn’t the only reason why we recommend a visit though. Apart from its beautiful mountain scenery, there is something even more beautiful hiding beneath the surface; The Cango Caves. The Cango Caves belong to the biggest Flowstone caves in the world. You should definitely book a tour, because it is simply impossible to not stand in awe in such a huge, massive cave.
South Africa has a whole lot to offer. I bet you will figure that out by yourself on your next journey to this amazing country! Book your trip via our website and tell us about what we’ve missed!
